Scientists from the Perm Polytech University and the Merseburg University of Applied Sciences (Germany) have found out how various scenarios for modernizing the municipal solid waste management system in Russia can contribute to climate change mitigation. The model developed by the researchers identified the optimal MSW management actions that would help reduce greenhouse gases.

The threat of dangerous strains of bacteria spreading, which can be found in hospitals is constantly growing. Many types of staphylococci develop antibiotic resistance and can cause disease in humans. Scientists from the Perm Polytech University, the Institute of Ecology and Genetics of Microorganisms and the Institute of Technical Chemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences Ural Branch have obtained a new antibacterial compound that can effectively fight microorganisms.
