The research was published in the periodical “Chemistry, Ecology, Urbanistics”.

Perm scientists have studied the basic physic-chemical properties of various polymer waste and found that the most harmless and ecofriendly materials for recycling were low- and high-density polyethylene. Ecological, economical and organizational technological criteria were considered during justifying the choice of polymer waste.

According to Veronika Pugina, the graduate student of the “Environmental protection” department, these criteria estimate such factors as technological opportunity of polymer waste’s using, financial accessibility, the risk of formation of chemical compounds dangerous to the environment and people, material benefits in the implementation of the suggested technology.

According to Larisa Rudakova, Doctor of Technical science, professor and the head of the “Environmental protection"department”, experimental studies were conducted in order to estimate the practicability of the using the criteria. Due to studies scientist have found out that properties of asphalt concrete with using high-density polyethylene don’t concede in their characteristics to asphalt concrete based on natural raw materials.

The project of Perm scientists was presented at the All-Russian scientific-practical conference with the international participation of the periodical “Chemistry, Ecology, Urbanistics” (Perm, 2020) and at the international conference “Modern orientations and prospects for the development processing technologies and equipment in mechanical engineering 2021” (Sevastopol).
