    FAILURE-RESISTANT MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS

    Automation and Telemechanics

Head of the programme: Sergei F. Tyurin, Honoured Inventor of the Russian Federation, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor at Automation and Telemechanics Department

    Academic degree: Master’s degree.

    Area of study (qualification):
    220400.68 Technical Systems Management.

    Priority development areas of PNRPU:
    Aircraft Engine and Gas-Turbine Technologies.

    Target of the programme:
training of specialists in design of reliable, failure, disaster-resistant and safe management systems of technical facilities.

    Programme characteristics:
failure-resistant digital instruments and computers were first developed for military facilities. Over the past decades terms became more complicated, and number of paradigms proposed for creation of reliable management systems increased: failure-resistant and “flexible”; “naturally reliable”, “naturally guaranteed”; failure-safe and “naturally safe”; high readiness and vitality; self-restorable and “self-curable”, etc. The Laboratory of Failure Resistance in the Trapeznikov Institute of Control Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Moscow) develops the theory of failure resistance based on invariant-and-group study of system structures. The Institute of Informatics Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Moscow) carries out work in development concept of highly reliable computers with the use of self-synchronous circuit engineering. Research in methods of safe-guaranteed systems is performed in Kharkov Aircraft Institute. Perm National Research Polytechnic University is establishing research school of failure resistance based on functionally comprehensive tolerant approach. However, the lack of specialists in this field does not facilitate practical implementation of these paradigms in design of failure-resistant management systems. This Master’s programme combines fundamental knowledge of current theory of failure resistance with possible patenting of technical solutions and preparation of Master’s theses in scientific speciality 05.13.05 Elements and Facilities of Computer Engineering and Management Systems with real practical work in special projects.

    Target group:
Bachelors of the following areas: 220400.62 Management in Technical Systems, 220100.62 System Analysis and Control, 230400.62 Information Systems and Technologies, 220700.62 Automation of Technological Processes and Production, 230100.62 Information and Computer Science.

    Major clients:
OAO Aviadvigatel, ZAO IVS, Institute of Control Sciences of Russian Academy of Sciences.

Possible places of work for the programme graduates:
    - design offices and bureaus of enterprises and organizations; - prospective research department of enterprises and organizations.

Cooperation with research and development institutes and enterprises within the programme:
the Master’s programme is implemented within the framework of cooperation contract concluded by Perm National Research Polytechnic University and Trapeznikov Institute of Control Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Moscow) and Zhukovski National Aerospace University (Kharkov, Ukraine). Besides, there is a cooperation contract between Perm National Research Polytechnic University and Institute of Informatics Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Moscow) in research and improvement of educational process in Informatics.
