The International Symposium in Metabolism and Diabetes took place on October 29, 2013. The symposium was possible due to the partnership between Perm National Research Polytechnic University and Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL, Switzerland), supported by NEVA Foundation, Ministry of Healthcare, Ministry of Education and Science of Perm Krai.
The symposium had the lectures of:
1. Professor Cornfeld (Medical School of Massachusetts University),
2. Professor D. Tobakman ( Medical College of University of Illinois in Chicago),
3. Professor Poroikova (Orekhovich Institute of Biomedical Chemistry of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences),
4. A. Maksimov - Senior Researcher. Institute of Ecology and Genetics of Microorganisms of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences
and other specialists.

V. Korotaev PNRPU Vice-Rector for Science and Innovations opened the symposium saying that the joint project between our universities is a starting point in creating a new platform for partnerships with European universities.
University young academic teachers and researchers in mathematics, chemistry and IT have good opportunities to make experiments in world class laboratories of Scientific and Academic Centre for Applied Chimical and Biological Sciences at PNRPU.

In 2012 Perm National Research Polytechnic University singed the contract with Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne to cooperate in researching diabetes and metabolism supported by NEVA Foundation. Perm krai Administration coordinates the work from the Russian side supervising work between the parties.
