On May 22 the new Center for fluid catalytic cracking catalyst research and testing was opened at Perm national research polytechnic university with the support of the "LUKOIL" oil company and the Perm krai Government.

The opening of the Centre was attended by the vice-president for human resources and organizational development of OAO "LUKOIL" Anatoly Moskalenko, chairman of the Perm krai Government Gennady Tushnolobov, PNRPU rector Anatoly Tashkinov.

The center is the only one of its kind in Perm krai as well as in the whole of Russia. Its primary purpose is to carry out comparative research of catalysts required for manufacturing of high-tech oil products.

Fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) is by far the most technologically advanced process for producing high-octane components of commercial gasoline, unsaturated gases and other heavy hydrocarbon fraction products.

The creation of the Center was financed by PNRPU, OAO "LUKOIL" charity fund and the Government of Perm krai in the total sum of 155 million rubles.

The PNRPU Center for FCC Catalyst Research and Testing will test fresh and equilibrium catalysts and conduct a wide range of research on the optimization of industrial catalysts and technological parameters of the FCC process for Russian and international refineries.
