Iraqi oil workers are studying in professional retraining programs at the PNRPU Institute of Oil and Gas. At home they work at one of the largest oilfields West Kurna-2, which has been developed by the "LUKOIL" company for the last 5 years.
Besides theoretical classes at the PNRPU Institute of Oil and Gas specialists from Iraq visited industrial objects of "LUKOIL-PERM", "Lukoil-Permnefteorgsyntez" and "LUKOIL-Permneftegazpererabotka". They also visited many service enterprises, including the "Eurasia" drilling company.
Scheduled exercises took place on the Yaiva river, which is located within the working area of oil and gas production shop №11. Employees of the 4th, 11th and 12th shops took part in the exercise. Within two hours of the initial briefing the workers installed oil-spill booms to stop the spread of the simulated spill. Then special equipment for collecting oil-containing liquid was installed and tested. The main objective of the exercise (localizing and eliminating the consequences of a simulated oil spill) was completed two times faster than expected.
Iraqi colleagues watched the work of Lukoil specialists with interest and actively asked questions. Our eastern colleagues were impressed by the fact that such studies take place regularly even in winter.
"Education directly at the oilfield gives us a lot of opportunities to get acquainted with the latest technologies and equipment, which are used in the oil industry, to see it all with our own eyes. We learned a lot watching the exercise today. It is amazing how fast and harmonious the actions of our colleagues are", - Muhanned Abdul Razaq, senior geologist at the South Oil Company in Iraq.
