Dear Colleagues, we would like to invite you to participate in the First National Scientific Practical Conference “Image of the Engineer in XXI Century: Challenges of Technetronic Civilization”, which is organized by the Philosophy and Law Department of the Faculty of Humanities of Perm National Research Polytechnic University.
Post-industrial epoch, that modern society is experiencing now, is determined by its technological characteristics. The sum of traditional values, which originate from Greek and Roman traditions, is replaced by the “sum of technologies”. The new epoch has created its own philosophy, art, religion, social standards and its own personality type. One of the main characters of the epoch is an engineer. The scientist, who tries to comprehend the mission of a modern engineer, technician, constructor, faces a mass of contradictions and problems.
The urgent philosophical task is to comprehend challenges of modern technetronic civilization, its utopia and anti-utopia, understand metaphysical foundations of technology, to define the bounds of discourse of technical thinking.
In order to fulfill this task series of scientific conferences is going to be organized by Department of Philosophy and Law of Perm National Research Polytechnic University. At the first (primary) conference we are going to discuss the following questions:
- Transformation of human logic into materialized techno-logy
- Position of technological sciences in the structure of scientific knowledge
- Sociocultural assessment of engineering designs
- Specifics of technological discourse
- Urban and cultural specifics of post-industrial epoch (“sum of technologies” and anti-Thomas)
