From 17 to 22 November four employees of Perm National Research Polytechnic University who are involoved in developing the University innovations infrastructure underwent training at North Carolina State University (NCSU, USA) as part of the programme for “Creating a model for scientific and technical projects commercialization in the regional technical university”.
In the course of the visit L. Mylnikov, D. Shishkin, I. Kornev, and D. Chernyshev were familiarized with the work of the Entrepreneurs Garage (NCSU student-oriented entrepreneurs initiative), HQ Raleigh (office space for innovative businesses supported by the city government), technology transfer centre and technology incubator of NCSU, Research Triangle Park (place for companies working within a kind of a state-supported technopark). Perm employees got a look at the work of an office space created by high-tech companies for supporting small innovative businesses titled American Underground (Durham) as well as an open space for student entrepreneurship called Venture Lab 1789 (Chapel Hill). They then met with UNC and Kenan Institute (Chapel Hill) representatives.
During the visit representatives of both universities have reached an agreement for conducting workshops in the field of project commercialization and technology entrepreneurship on the premises of PNRPU as well as internships and educational programmes in the field of technology entrepreneurship for PNRPU students at NCSU. They also discussed possibilities for technology projects incubation at NCSU.
