Students of Environmental Protection Department have listened to a course of lectures by European scientist.

At the Department of Environmental Protection a master-class by Marco Ritzkowski, a German expert in the field of design and operation of solid waste landfills, was held.
 

The master-class by Marco Ritzkowski is the next step of the long-term cooperation between PNRPU and Humburg University of Technology. Since December 2012 till December 2015 Marco Ritzkowski, together with his colleagues from Hamburg University of Technology and Vienna University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences, was a participant of an international research group of scientists formed to realize a scientific project at PNRPU Department of Environmental Protection with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Perm krai.
 

Marco Ritzkowski is a leading researcher, an Associate Professor at the Institute of ecological technologies and energetic of Hamburg University of Technology, Managing Director of the International Waste Working Group (IWWG), Doctor of Sciences.
 

The master-class was dedicated to modern approaches to designing and management of waste landfills. Lecture topics included such issues as basics of European legislation on waste landfills management, conceptions of waste landfills designing, biogas collection and utilization, landfills aeration and recultivation. The lectures contained a lot of practical examples of realization of modern technologies for landfills management.
 

About 40 participants attended the master-class: teachers and master students of PNRPU Department of Environmental Protection, students of Ural Federal University named after the first president of Russia B.N. Yeltsin.
 

Lectures were held in English, teachers of the Department translated its into Russian. Marco Ritzkowski noted the high level of the event organization.
 

Currently Doctor Ritzkowski is employed in a part-time position as an Associate Professor at the Environmental Protection Department. Now PNRPU has one more highly qualified foreign guest teacher and students of Environmental Protection Department have a unique opportunity to get new knowledge from the German expert through planned lectures, vebinars and consulting on graduation thesis.
