According to the professional association of the digital transformation leaders GlobalCIO|DigitalExperts the project by Uralkali "Implementation of the mining-and-geological IT systems- GGIS" (digital twin of the ore mine) became the best one IT-Project of the Russia and in CIS countries. The system was developed by specialists from "Mining survey, geodesy and geo information system" department based at Perm Tech.
IT systems- GGIS unique for Russian potash industry is implemented in commercial test production at all ore mines of the company Uralkali that will increase the safety of the mining.
The IT-solution accumulates and structures mining and geological data in a single three-dimensional information space during the development of the Verkhnekamskoye Deposit of potash and magnesium salts. The GGIS analyzes and stores information about all mine workings, reservoir occurrence, quality indicators of the useful component in the ore, volumes of voids and filling operations, as well as design and other indicators. Based on it development, a long-term mining plan is formed. The system is designed for solving complex mining, surveying, and geological problems and calculations. To do this, the system includes digitized archival data on the development of potash salts from 1927 when the first mine sinking in Solikamsk was started.
More than 300 specialists of Uralkali company-miners, geologists, surveyors, geomechanics, as well as experts of JSC VNII Galurgii and the Mining Institute of the Ural branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences work with various GIS modules online.
Safety of mining operations is top priority of the Uralkali Company. The unique mining and geological information system is a modern tool for managing mining production and allows to develop the Verkhnekamskoye potash and magnesium salts deposit effectively and safely.
