Snow will be mobile

Perm Tech young scientists developed the installation which will remove the snow from the roofs.

In winter the snow on the roof can be 250kg/sq. meters. The icicles and aufeis damage the roofs.  Moreover when the snow gets off the roof, it can be very dangerous for people walking or for the cars parked downstairs. That is why it is very important to  shovel away snow very often.

Scientists used technology that forces air to push snow through a pipe. The unit acts as a spray gun or sprayer, but instead of a liquid, it moves snow over long distances.

The model includes a blower, a pipeline through which precipitation passes, and sections of air-tight fabric. The material repels moisture and allows snow to slide down the pipes. The yard-keeper  can quickly roll up the installation and move it to another roof. Above the rigid section of the pipeline is a hopper with a cutting grid, into which a person loads snow, and under it — a vibrator. It allows to pour snow in and pass further along the pipe.

The installation is very simple in use. A person puts together the pipeline of the desired length, rolls it into a roll, lifts it along with the structure to the roof and turns on the blower. The pipeline unfolds itself. The worker loads snow into the hopper, and in a few seconds the precipitation moves away.

Tests  showed that a unit with a 210 W fan transports snow 30 m or more horizontally away and 2 meters high. Unlike analogues, the Perm model is cheap and easy to be manufactured. For example, renting a car tower for cleaning roofs costs 1800 rubles per hour, and the price of a Perm installation is 8000 rubles. The model is light and mobile: it can be lifted by one person. It allows you not to dump snow under the eaves, but put it away from the building.

Perm Tech experts believe that the installation will be most useful for cleaning large roofs with a small slope. It can also be used for cleaning house territories from snow and fallen leaves.
