DEVELOPERS FROM PERM POLYTECH ARE CREATING AN APPLICATION FOR “SMART” WASTE SORTING

“With the development of technological progress, the state of the environment began to deteriorate. In particular, waste has a negative impact on the health of people and animals, as well as on the state of the plant world. But not only corporations, but also ordinary citizens can contribute to waste recycling. In our opinion, in order to change the situation, it is necessary to popularize a conscious attitude to ecology with the help of eco-applications. They will allow people to get all the necessary knowledge about the importance of waste recycling and the possibilities of its conscious disposal”, says Maria Lopina, one of the authors of the development, 3rd year student of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics of Perm Polytech .

According to the researchers, it is necessary to promote companies that are engaged in waste recycling, and applications that allow you to find out information about it. To date, there are national and federal projects and programs aimed at protecting the environment, but it is also important to form environmentally responsible behavior and an active environmental position among people, according to the developers.

The application, which is being created by Perm students, will contain three sections: waste sorting, eco-volunteering and specialty stores. According to the developers, there are currently no information resources combining all three topics. In the application, users will find current news on ecology, eco-guide and garbage collection points in the region. The eco-guide will contain information about sorting, data visualization and a waste scanning function.

In the “Volunteering” section, people will be able to find news about eco-events in the region, information about scientific developments and social videos aimed at promoting environmentally responsible behavior. For example, the application will help you find out where volunteers are needed now to plant a forest destroyed by fire.

“We are creating an application based on data from the Perm Region, as it is still difficult to find eco-applications with information about local organizations in our region. In the future, the development can be supplemented with data from all over Russia”, the developer explains.

According to the researchers, the information resource can be useful for citizens, environmental organizations and waste recycling enterprises.
