Lactic acid bacteria are microorganisms that, in addition to lactic acid, can synthesize substances of a protein nature - bacteriocins. Bacteriocins and lactic acid have an inhibitory effect on opportunistic and pathogenic microorganisms, which can cause a healing effect.

The disk diffusion method was used to study the antibiotic activity. The following cultures were selected as test samples: Escherichia coli and Bacillus subtilis. 100 microliters of one-day cultures of test organisms and discs impregnated with the products of biosynthesis of the isolated lactic acid culture were added to sterile Petri dishes with agarized nutrient medium.

The results of studying the growth dynamics showed that the culture of lactic acid bacteria has antibacterial activity against both gram-negative and gram-positive microorganisms of the test cultures under consideration.

According to the authors, further studies may be focused on consideration of antibiotic activity in relation to a wider range of test cultures of microorganisms.
