On the territory of Russia, there are about 25% of oil deposits are having a high content of paraffinic hydrocarbons. The formation of deposits on the inner surface of the production string is a common production problem. The formation of organic deposits leads to a pressure increase  in the production string, an load increase affects the oilfield equipment and the risks. This problem is relevant both for many fields around the world and for fields in the Perm Krai.

Determination of the effectiveness of chemical reagents - "refrainer" of paraffin deposits  is most often taken place in the laboratory. The most common research methods have significant drawbacks, due to which laboratory values ??differ from real field data. To solve this problem, scientists of the Perm Polytech conducted research on a modern laboratory stand  called "WaxFlowLoop". From the generated database, scientists were able to estimate the thickness of organic deposits at each point in time. Further, the they have developed a number of methods that can determine the intensity of the formation of deposits using the installation. Scientists conducted experiments using four types of oil as a test material. For each of them, experiments were carried out with and without a reagent in amount of 200 ppm. In comparing laboratory data and field information, the integration method was the most effective method of evaluation. With its help, the change of deposits thickness is taken into account at each point at every instant, which allows to get more reliable results. Other methods either do not take into account all the data of the study, or average them. There are currently no analogues of the present development.

For  applying the integration method, the data of laboratory studies are processed, and a graph of the dependence of the organic deposits thickness on time is built on it. The method consists in determining the area under the curve and comparing the obtained results with studies that were carried out without the use of chemical reagents. By comparing the obtained areas, it is possible to determine the effectiveness of reducing the rate of organic deposits formation.

The development can be used for a more correct selection of the brand of chemical reagents and its amount. This, in turn, it will increase the working efficiency of production well stock.
