    COMPOSITE AND POWDER MATERIALS, COATINGS

    Powder Material Science

Head of the programme: Vladimir N. Antsiferov, Academician, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Head of Powder Material Science Department, Head of PNRPU Scientific Centre for Powder Material Science.

    Academic degree: Master’s degree.

    Area of study (qualification):
    150400.68 Metallurgy

    Priority development areas of PNRPU:
    Nanoindustry.

    Target of the programme:
providing specialists with knowledge in powder material science, researching and generating metal, ceramic, composite materials with unique properties and sprayed coatings.

    Programme characteristics:
powder material science plays an important part in generating materials with targeted properties. In mass production this method provides high capacity and efficiency, it enables production of items with high dimensional accuracy. Powder technologies result in obtaining materials which cannot be obtained with traditional methods; such materials have unique properties for machine engineering, construction, aircraft and automotive engineering, oil extraction and chemical production. Technological processes of work with powders make it possible to obtain both metal and ceramic composite materials and coatings. Now methods are becoming especially important due to nanomaterials development; the major part of them is produced from nanopowders or films. Great experience in powder metallurgy accumulated at production and study of ultra disperse powders (former name of nanopowders), and coatings is the basis of the following advanced Master’s programme within the University priority development area called Nanoindustry. The present Master’s programme combines a fundamental course in material science of metal, ceramic, composite materials and nanomaterials with a practical course in technology development and study of new materials. Practical skills of using modern production and research facilities are gained in laboratory classes; participation in scientific work, contracts and grants of PNRPU, there is also a good opportunity to take advantage of the Department up-to-date equipment.

    Target group:
Bachelors in the following areas: 150400.62 Metallurgy, 150700.62 Machine Engineering.
